With the latest comfort options and education available, your nurse will help you make choices that are right for you and your family. This will allow you to truly relax and give your body the opportunity to do exactly what it was made to do.

Your family is kept safe inside our secure unit equipped with technology to keep your baby right by your side, which is exactly where you want them. Our physicians visit with and examine you and your baby right in your room. Our family centered care delivery model often keeps you in the same room throughout your stay, allowing you to relax, recover and learn all you will need to return home with confidence.

We offer a hydrotherapy tub and showers, opportunities for natural birth following Cesarean, a donor milk program and Pasteurized Donor Human Milk for hospitalized babies in need.

While using over-the-bed bassinets to keep your baby close and secure, you will learn to recognize baby’s feeding cues, feed and care for your baby, and have time to bond and recognize each other.

Babies love being near their moms and are less likely to become jaundiced, cry less, sleep more and establish their day and night routines more quickly while in the room with you.

Your nurse will check on you hourly and continually educate you according to your individual needs. Our guest policies are flexible as we welcome your friends and family as an important part of your care team and are eager to teach them how best to help and support you and your family.

Hannibal Regional Hospital led the way with the prestigious designation as the first Baby-Friendly™ designated hospital in the state of Missouri. We are here to guide you in giving your baby the best nutrition for a healthy beginning and better health throughout their lifetime. Our team includes nurses with extensive training in breastfeeding, International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, committed physicians, and ongoing support.

We provide two opportunities per week to meet other breastfeeding moms, check your child’s growth, and receive answers from a lactation consultant and one on one care if you prefer.

Additionally, there is always someone available for support after you go home -- our lactation consultants are just a phone call away, 24 hours a day for your convenience and peace of mind.

The Breastfeeding Support Group provides an opportunity to enjoy the support and suggestions of other breastfeeding mothers, get questions answered and check your baby's weight. One of our board-certified lactation consultants will be there to help answer questions. The group meets twice each week in the OB Classroom at Hannibal Regional Hospital: Monday evenings at 5 pm and Wednesday mornings at 10 am. The group is free and no registration is needed. Siblings of the baby are welcome too! For questions call 573-248-5161.

Hannibal Regional is proud to have partnered with The Milk Bank, where new moms can donate breast milk that will be delivered to babies who otherwise would not have the opportunity of such a incredible gift. 

The Milk Bank is a community-supported, not-for-profit organization that was launched in 2005.  The Milk Bank believes that human milk is best for all babies, and through the generosity of mothers, careful screening and processing, provides human milk to fragile premature babies in neonatal/newborn intensive care units. The Milk Bank is a proud member of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America.
